REDDING, Calif. — Downtown Redding is now home to a new mural on the front of the Shasta Historical Society Building on Market Street.
The artwork, created by Colorado Muralist Jess Mudgett, is the latest addition to the city’s public art scene.
“The concept is to integrate the culture and what is around Redding into this wall,” said Mudgett. “I did that the best I could, through what I like to paint. I think it is turning out great… We’ve got some fish, birds. I see a lot of agriculture here so I wanted to include some horses… Mount Shasta and some different types of landscapes.”
The mural is sponsored by “Paint the Town Redding” through the Forward Redding Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the historical society. It’s expected to be completed on Wednesday morning, Oct. 9.
Mudgett said he’s never been in a community with nicer people and said he was really impressed with Redding and the surrounding area.
